What is an EXCELerator School?
This year we are again designated as a College Board EXCELerator School!
A 3 1/2 — year partnership with the College Board, EXCELerator is a model of systemic reform designed to radically increase the number and diversity of students prepared for college-level work. The project is made possible through funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. East Bay is honored to have been selected as one of only 27 EXCELerator high schools in five districts across the nation. Considering that about 19,000 high schools operate across the United States, we can certainly
consider ourselves members of a distinguished group!
Our participation in this ground-breaking initiative gives us a unique opportunity to take advantage of many high-quality college readiness programs, tools, and services as well as financial support. The resources and support provided through EXCELerator will help us achieve our goals for student achievement. In the next few months, we will work collaboratively to:
- Raise our standards and expectations for students and adults;
- Establish a college-going culture in our school; and
- Build stronger relationships both among educators and between educators and students.
Thank you for supporting our students and our school. We have a diverse and talented group of young people and a dedicated faculty and staff—key ingredients for a successful school. We look forward to working with you in the coming months and years to realize that potential.
